While I like the idea of a black and white color scheme, which this room does well, I feel that I would like this use of a black and white color scheme better if the words on the back wall didn’t form a similar striped pattern to the rug. I like the pattern of the rug and I certainly believe that the school house chalk board always functions as a nice touch for a room. The black couch, tops of the end tables, and the white walls also help to from the black and white color scheme of the room as a whole. Sometimes it is the smallest touches that make a bedroom or a living room chic. In this room, we see that the color scheme has been carefully chosen to match the furniture, or rather, complement it. In a sense, this strategy works both ways; the furniture and the paint scheme of the room should always accentuate the other. The style of this living room is very modern and quite streamlined. You will notice that everything has a clean and defined angle. The coffee table and the couches are especially great pieces that give the room a modern vibe. Crisp edges and smooth, white surfaces lend a hand to the airiness and lightness of the room that would be darkened considerably if you used furniture with rounded edges.
